Many Ponies Outfit offers horseback riding year-round. Their home is near Norwood, Colorado, a 45-minute drive from Telluride Colorado, where they offer rides in the winter. They offer custom trail rides ranging from 2 hours, ½ Day, or All Day. English and Western riding lessons are available, as well as short term and year-round boarding.

Roudy’s Telluride Horseback Adventures

A Telluride tradition for four decades, Roudy Roudebush has been helping folks connect with their inner cowboy by experiencing Telluride’s beauty on horseback. Roudy and his horses have become local celebrities, and have been filmed and photographed for decades. Now in semi-retirement, Roudy operates out of Norwood, Colorado. Trips are available from one to two hour rides and customized pack trips can also be arranged. Wedding packages are also available.

San Juan Huts

San Juan Huts provides low-impact, self-powered adventure experiences for skiers and mountain bikers. The ski system features five backcountry huts connecting Telluride, Ridgway, and Ouray in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, catering to skiers of varying skill levels, from intermediate to advanced. Adventurers can either access individual huts or undertake a hut-to-hut journey, with additional challenging terrain available above each hut. For mountain bikers, San Juan Huts operates two 215-mile routes from Telluride or Durango, CO, to Moab, UT. These routes traverse from high alpine tundra to desert landscapes, offering a demanding yet manageable experience for intermediate riders. The huts are located about 35 miles apart, and riders must be self-sufficient, as vehicle support is not provided.
